BACKGOUNG
As someone born in the millennium, I have observed China's rapid development under the influences of economic globalization and the mobile internet. The rise of e-commerce, the wave of consumerism, and the societal adoration of material desires characterize this era. However, this glorification of overconsumption and pursuit of material possession also exposes the instability of society and the risk of individuals becoming enslaved by materialism. These observations and reflections have inspired me to integrate these characteristics of our era into my new media art creations.

Installation design
The installation employs symbols of consumerism—shopping carts and delivery boxes, augmented by 3D mapping that casts intricate digital images onto the structure. This interactive setup allows visitors to engage via online interfaces, experiencing shifts in visual and auditory elements driven by rhythmic musical cues. When the projection is deactivated, the installation reverts to its austere, fundamental state. The stark contrast between the dazzling digital imagery and the teetering boxes stimulates contemplation among viewers about the latent risks and crises lurking beneath the surface of prosperity.

For the initial design of the physical installation, I employed digital painting and 3D modeling. However, after assembling the demo, the cardboard's low strength and susceptibility to temperature and humidity (causing warping, curling, and deformation in excessively moist or dry conditions) led me to replace the cardboard with high-density EPS foam blocks in the later stages.

Visual Design
In terms of visual design, I used Touchdesigner to create real-time audio-visual interactions. Based on the motif of "waves," I combined various artistic styles such as "geometric," "mechanical," "vaporwave," and "ink splashing" to create ten sets of visual effects. These were then projected in 3D using the mapping plugin provided by Touchdesigner.

Interactive design
For the interactive component, I utilized TouchOSC, an interface application based on the OSC protocol, to send and receive open control information via a WiFi network. I then designed the interactive interface using the UI modules provided by TouchOSC. The final interface is divided into three interaction levels, including basic actions such as activating the projection, selecting images, and switching music. It also offers a hand-drawing pad that allows users to freely draw images. Different interactions can produce various display effects, meaning the final visual and auditory presentation of the installation depends entirely on the user's interaction.

The final installation demonstrated strong visual impact, and feedback from participants indicated that the audio-visual interaction and TouchOSC collaboration were engaging. When the installation used cardboard boxes, most participants associated it with keywords like "shopping," "consumption," and "online shopping." However, after switching to high-density EPS foam blocks, some participants found the concept less clear. This suggests that in designing digital entertainment experiences, further exploration is needed to effectively balance visual effects, interaction, and artistic expression.
